Of Changes"
The I-Ching is amongst the oldest of the Chinese Classic Texts and formulates a highly detailed
divination system, which is still used within Chinese and East-Asian communities throughout the world. The text bases itself
around the fundamental balance of opposite forces, the evolution of events and the acceptance that change is always inevitable.
The earliest surviving version of the text which was written
on thin bamboo strips dates to the second half of the Warring States Era (mid 4th to early 3rd century BC). The text was definitely
not created later than 223BC as it is known that it was then that the Chu Kingdom was defeated by that of Qin Kingdom, and
mentions of this are included within the text. During the later Warring States Era, the text was reinterpreted as the philosophical
and cosmological system that is so well known today.
