The term Chagi is used as an all-encompassing phrase for the wide variety of kicking technique used within Taekwondo.

A term used to describe the unseen energies that flow through all things. Control of Chi if believed to be fundamental to good physical and mental health.

"Blood / Life-Force"
Originally a Chinese term, Chi is used within Japan to describe the physical attributes of life such as 'Blood pumping within the vein's and 'Air filling the lungs'. When the Japanese refer to spiritual of mystical life forces they would instead normally use the word Ki.  

CHIBURI  血振  or  血振り

Japanese

"Shaking Off The Blood / Blood Shake" Also known as Chiburui. The Chiburi is the rapid movement made with a sword used to expel blood and tissue from the blade prior to its sheathing. Technically the Chiburi is only the first part of the cleaning action and would rapidly be followed by the wiping of the blade with cloth. The Chiburi is also used in part to symbolically cleanse the blade in line with the Shinto philosophy on death and the spiritual corruption it can bring.

The term Chien is an alternative name for the double-edged straight swords more commonly known as Jian.

"Ball And Chain"
The Chigiriki is a Japanese style of war flail developed during the early Edo period. In construction it normally consists of a three foot pole to which is attached a three foot length of weighted chain. However other example are known in which the length of the pole was equal to the users arm, and the length of the chain was generally unspecified being at least as long as the pole section.

One aspect of Bujutsu that is generally considered to form part of the earlier variations of the Bugei Juhappan. Its study fell out of favour when the majority of Japanese warfare went from castle sieges to open battle.

The term Chu is used to describe one of the former Chinese sovereign states that existed between 722 BC and 223 BC when it was annexed by the kingdom of Qin. At its height the Chu kingdom occupied a vast are of land including what are now the Anhui, Chongging, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Jingzhou provinces.
